The Gig in the Garden, Elford B79 9BT
We are delighted to announce something we have been wanting to put on for some time - a gig in the magical setting of Elford Walled Garden. This is a unique opportunity to experience great live music in a spectacular English walled garden setting.
Headlining the show is one of our favourite American singer songwriters, Stephen Simmons. Stephen hails from Woodbury, Tennessee and is over in the UK as part of a European tour. He comes armed with his acoustic guitar, harmonica and stack of great songs from his 10 album career. Expect an evening of song and storytelling drawn from a decade of experiences of life on the road as a touring troubadour. Stephen draws from a wide American musical heritage encompassing elements of folk, blues, country and the classic singer/songwriter genre.
We can’t recommend Stephen highly enough - he has played for us several times and is a great performer with some wonderful songs.
The show will start at 6.30pm with an opening set set from the great local-based acoustic duo ‘Brindley Hunt’ who have released a new album of original songs. The gig will be in the marquee (unless the weather is really good). There will be a licensed bar selling real ale.
TICKETS £10 from www.elfordhallgarden.org
“a singer-songwriter of marked depth and commitment, (he) recalls a more subdued Steve Earle, a more grounded Ryan Adams and any aggregation of three-named Texas troubadours you’d care to recall.” THE NASHVILLE SCENE
“Vivid, intelligent and soulful. UNCUT
“…he’s a Bible Belt barstool philosopher singing of sin and redemption. Intelligent, intense, and easy to like.” MOJO
Hot Burrito Promotions – Smokin’ hot music in the Wild West Midlands. A venue run by fans for fans.
We ran our first show for Slaid Cleaves back in 2010 and have been doing it since, bringing the top names in Americana to the West Midlands including Slaid, Rod Picott and Sam Baker. We aim to offer the best music, a superb venue, great sound and good beer.
All shows are run on a not for profit basis. Anything we make goes to two local charities – Elford Hall Garden Project and St Giles Hospice in nearby Whittington. So far the shows have made over £2,000 for the charities.
All our gigs are in either Elford (near Tamworth) or Lichfield, Staffordshire, West Midlands. See individual listings for more details.
We would love to see you at the next show. Please come along and support us.
